Coach Trip to Baddeley Clinton - more details

The  Coach Trip to Baddesley Clinton on Wednesday 2nd October.

Baddesley Clinton is a medieval moated manor house in the Forest of Arden, some 15 miles south of Birmingham. It was the home of the Ferrers family for twelve generations but was taken over by the National Trust in 1980.

The coach will leave the bus stop by St John’s Church, on Chester Road at 9.15 a.m.

Thanks to a very kind gesture from the National Trust, Civic Society members will have free entry to the property. The trip will therefore cost just £16.50 which should pay for the coach and the driver’s tip.

Non-members of the society are very welcome but, unless they are members of the National Trust, will have to pay the group entry charge of £11 on top of the £16.50.   -  or they could join the society for £7.00!

The car park is about 100 yards from Visitor Reception.

On arrival we will be welcomed by a member of staff who will provide everyone with a ticket and an information leaflet. After that, you are free to roam at will.  There are volunteer guides in most of the rooms who will be happy to provide information about the fascinating history of the house and the people who have lived in it. It is suggested that you allow at least 45 minutes to explore the house. A visit to the Garden might take an hour but, if you have a particular interest in gardens, you may need longer. There is a vegetable garden, a lake, a stew pond, a walled garden and a nature trail.

The church contains the grave of Nicholas Brome who murdered a priest. We are advised to ask the volunteer in the Library for details of the murder and the grave.

The Barn Yard Restaurant is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., is fully licensed and is run in Cafeteria style.

Toilets are located in the Barn Yard.

The coach will leave the car park to begin the return journey at 4 p.m.
