Our 2022 calendar is available

The Civic Society's 2022 calendar is now available.

Once again, we have produced ‘slimline’ and A5 versions of our calendar.  Both priced at £5.  If you liked our 2021 calendar - ‘Two thousand years in twelve months’, you will like our 2022 calendar - ‘Hartford’s Past Today’. The calendars also contain four pages of accompanying notes that contain snippets of Hartford’s past linked to the calendar images.

Local stockists are Littlers butchers shop and Elson News (sadly we no longer have a village Post Office on the list).  Our stockists do this to support us; they take no commission, so please thank them.

We are also prepared to deliver locally within Hartford (c.o.d. or prior electronic payment to Hartford Civic Society, sort code 20-24-09, account number 30896608).  Reply to the following email to order one:

We will have a stall at the Hartford Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday 4th December, (10.00 a.m. till 4.00 p.m.) in order to promote Membership to new residents and chat to our existing Members.  Our calendars will also be on sale (unless already sold out).  Last year sales in November gave us the confidence to order a re-print top up, so it really does help us if you buy early.

Next year we would like residents to provide images for our 2023 calendar.  The theme will be ‘Art of Hartford’, which can be widely interpreted – by you.  Get creative.  See the competition rules link in this website for details.

Legacy Ideas Wanted

 Hartford Villager’s Legacy

George Cain, one of Hartford Civic Society’s founding members 17 years ago, sadly passed away in December 2019.  Unbeknown to us, George left a significant sum of money to the Society in his will.  We are now planning how to spend this to benefit the residents of Hartford.  Our remit is wide, but summed up with 'Cherish the past - Protect the future'.

The Trustees of the Society have decided to ask you, the residents of Hartford, to put ideas forward for a lasting project or projects, which will benefit the village community and utilise the legacy.

So, get those thinking caps on and let us know your thoughts and ideas for projects which George’s legacy might deliver.  We would like to think that he would have approved.  Tell us if you knew him.  Please put a short idea on Hartford Life or e-mail:  Have a look at our website to see some of our previous achievements.

At a recent Trustees meeting we agreed that there is no time limit as to when the legacy money is to be spent, so please continue to let us have your ideas. They will all be considered and the appropriate, practical, ones will be taken further.

 Thank you - The Trustees.
