Litter pick this Sunday - STILL ON

I have just seen the post on Facebook that a planned litter pick in Northwich for Sunday 13th has been cancelled due to the new "Rule of six" restrictions - which don't come into effect until the following day.

I think that is sad because litter picking normally involves only one or two people per route.

With that in mind, I have decided that we should go ahead with our litter pick, but can we all be mindful that social distancing must be observed during the initial meeting up and being issued with the equipment. I suggest we all wear masks until we have moved away from the group.

I will be cleaning all the kit before handing it out and apart from that nothing else will change.

If you are unsure about taking part, simply don't turn up. Better safe than sorry.

And to reiterate, because the sink hole has not been repaired, I will park my car in the car park, so if you don't see me by the bus stop, go to the car park.

See you on Sunday.

Our 2021 calendar

The design of our 2021 calendar is taking shape, and it will be ready for sale from November.  The theme this year is “Hartford – two thousand years in twelve months” and the images for each month will be linked to two pages of notes on Hartford’s history.  It will start with January linked to the time when Romans would have marched along our Chester Road (their Watling Street North).  December will feature our iconic blue bridge.

We only print a limited number of calendars (both A4 format when opened out, and the slim line version with more room for daily notes), so if you want to be sure of a copy, e-mail .  Your e-mails may prompt us to increase the print order.  Our 2021 calendar will be a collector’s item for sure.

The two pages of history notes draw heavily on our newsletter articles.  A compilation of these can now be downloaded here. (The full document may take a few seconds to download).

We like to have a different calendar theme each year, and also run a competition for all age groups, with prizes.  There was so much of Hartford’s history that we could have used for our 2021 calendar, that we will probably run the same theme for a second year as well and invite your contributions.  Send in your ideas now; we will make sure that you are entered into the competition.  Or wait until you see the calendar.  Order yours now.

September Litter Pick on Sunday 13th September

Our next litter pick will be next Sunday at 10.00am, as usual.

We will meet by the bus stop at the end of Walnut Lane and all kit will be provided.

I hope to see you all there.

Just a note that if the sink hole is still there, it may be inconvenient for me to park near the bus stop, so I will park in the car park and, after meeting at the bus stop we can walk to the car park to get kitted out.
